Philosophy of Life

I wrote this when I was in high school and I felt that it pretty much summarizes who I am as a person. It's kind of long but it basically says that I believe that Google will rule the world some day and everything in the world as we know it will be controlled by Google.

“A Look into my Future”

One of the greatest philosophers of our time, Mr. Will Rodgers, said, “An ignorant person is one who doesn’t know what you have just found out.” I believe that learning is the way to the future. To say that Google will take over the world some day may be going a bit too far, but not that far. But I do think that technology has, and will continue to, dominate the world in the years to come. Technology is the future of the world. And mastering this technology is what I have decided to do with my future. It’s something that I decided to do very early in my life. I feel that it is my destiny since I grew up in this kind of environment with my father who spent most of his life in this field. It’s been my choice since I’ve been old enough to type on my first computer or play my first video game. It was something that came very easy for me and made my life very enjoyable.

Will Rodgers also said, “even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” I believe that knowing what a person wants to do with their life before its over is very important. It gives them more time to enjoy it. For most people, finding their purpose in life means doing something that we truly love. It’s an area that seems just natural for a lot of people. But some people seem to wait too long to decide what they want out of life, and before it is realized, it’s too late. I know the life style that I want to enjoy for my life, and I know that the technology field will lead me there. It is something that I truly love. I do not want to be stuck in a job that does not make me happy or leads my life into a dead end. I want a job that I can be proud of and have an opportunity to change the world.

Quoting Mr. Will Rodgers once again he said, “We are all here for a spell; get all the laughs you can.” I believe that a person needs to smile at least once a day. Whether it’s sharing a joke with a friend, laughing about something I heard or seen on the television or radio, or just laughing at myself, it’s important. I think that it keeps my outlook on life fresh and gives me something to look forward to each and everyday. And not to mention, it relieves the stress of everyday life. It not only makes me feel better, it makes other people feel better also. It can become contagious because the person I just made smile will in turn make another person smile also. And after a while I don’t even think about it, I just do it.

Learning something new or discovering something different everyday is something else that I believe in very strongly. I believe in a strong education at both the high school and college level. As I mentioned earlier in this paper, technology is my choice for my future, and learning and education plays very important roles in this decision. I consider myself very lucky to have attended such a very fine school system like the Perry school system with so many excellent teachers. It has given me so many opportunities to peruse my career and make so many wise decisions. I also consider myself very lucky to have achieved so many good grades and to have accomplished so much in these twelve years of school. Learning something new everyday in school is something that I can take for granted. It’s why I’m there. But learning something new everyday about life is another story. This usually takes place outside of school, in either my home or on my own. I was very lucky to have that leadership there also from my parents and friends. This is something that was very difficult to accomplish on my own, but became a very necessary part of life. A strong education is a good defense against life’s major challenges.

One can’t go through life without having the right friends to share his life, ideas, and smile with. Friends are people who are always there for me and I’m always there from them. No matter how difficult the situation is. One also picks and chooses these friends on their own as life progresses. Picking the wrong friends can be a disastrous mistake that can affect ones life and future on a permanent basis. This is one of my strong beliefs in life. This is not a skill that is learned, but rather an art that lies somewhere in the back of the human brain. It is a feeling rather than a thought. I think that I have made good decisions on my choice of friends so far, but only time will tell.

Taking another quote from Will Rodgers, he said, “half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.” I believe that life is truly too short and we need to live it to the fullest degree and at the same time, slow down and enjoy it. We need to share our time with parents, friends, and yes, even our jobs too. It’s a proven fact that these are things will not be around forever. One of life’s greatest challenges is using our time wisely. But most importantly, we need to share some of that time with ourselves. Take time to reflect back on our memories or dream about what might lie ahead for us. I believe that it will definitely make us a better and stronger person.

Believing in ourselves is also one of the strongest beliefs that I practice. This belief in ourselves is one of the most positive forces at work in our life. I believe that the more positive forces at work in our lives, the better person that we will be. Without this belief in ourselves, there really is not much chance of a future for us. It’s with this belief that I intend to make my career and my future a very successful endeavor. Believing in ourselves is something that is taught to us by the constant encouragement of our parents and friends. It is something that is very difficult to learn on our own. I have been very lucky to have this encouragement throughout my entire life. Sometimes life’s challenges are very demanding and it’s during this time that believing in ourselves really takes us through the rough times. I’m very glad to have had all that encouragement during my younger years.

Being honest and obeying all the rules is another belief that I practice on a regular basis. Will Rodgers said, “Rumor travels fast, but it don’t stay put as long as truth.” Although it’s true that all rules do not make complete sense to us all of the time, but they still need to be obeyed. This belief is an instinct that was instilled inside of us by loving and caring parents long ago and is constantly reinforced. This is something that I am very proud of as I learned from the best. I feel very strongly that it is with this trait that I will have the best chance of becoming successful in my life. Going through life is by far hard enough without making it more difficult by being dishonest and not following all the rules.

And while honesty is a very important belief, I think that having respect for others ranks right up there with it. This is again another rule that is taught to us by our parents and friends. And that is just another reason why they are so important in our life and why we need them. Honesty will take us a long way in our life, but I feel that respect will take us even further. Like honesty, it needs to be practiced on a daily basis. I am amazed at what I can accomplish by combing honesty and respect. They can open doors and open up opportunities for me that I never believed existed. Not to mention, do incredible things for my future and my career.

Some of my beliefs in life are so simple that most people just take them for granted everyday. For example, taking the time to enjoy a beautiful day. I feel that living in north east Ohio, this is an opportunity doesn’t come along everyday. I also know that being a computer “nerd”; I am in front of a computer screen many hours during the typical day. But I do believe in taking a break and getting outside to enjoy the fresh air, sunshine, and yes, even helping my Dad with the yard work. Another simple belief is taking the time to sit down and talk to my mother and father. One can learn so much and at the same time, I would like to think, that they are also learning something from me. Not to mention, it also strengthens that bond of family and friendship, while at the same time producing memories that will last a lifetime. Being optimistic about life and believing that the glass is half full and not half empty is another belief that can get me past some of the difficult obstacles of my life. Some people call this faith or destiny, but what ever we call it, it has always helped me.

Another belief that I strongly believe in, is treating all people equal. One person is no better than another person and that person always has the potential to become someone great. It’s one of those beliefs, that if everyone agreed with it, the world would definitely become a better place. This is one of the guidelines that I use when choosing my friends. I also believe that war of any kind is wrong. Unless the United States of America is invaded on our own soil, our military should not be involved. I feel that other countries have their own militaries and they should use them to solve their own problems and not involve other countries in their politics. Of course I realize that this will never happen with the way world politics works today and the way the economy is in such trouble. My most important belief, by far, is remembering my loved ones and people who meant so much to me, who are no longer with us. These are memories that we must never lose, because if we do, we also lose a little part of our soul. These are the memories that will keep us strong throughout the difficult times in our life and keep us going when we think we can’t go any further. I know that sometimes these are memories that are painful to think about, but, in time, they can bring great joy into our lives.

Coming from such a strong and resourceful family and being so career orientated, I have not put much thought into my family in the future. I believe in strong family values, so I would want that in my family also. I feel having a very active family life is something very important to both myself and my family. But most important of all, is that I would want to show my mother and father that I too can raise a great family with all the beliefs that were instilled into me by my family.

All of these beliefs in my life are what I believe will give me a purpose in my life. I believe that my purpose is to change the world with technology. I believe that my beliefs will prepare me for the future and that I am now prepared for the future. I believe that I have a solid future in this world. They say that we never know what lies ahead for us in the future. But I feel that with what I have learned from my parents, friends, and teachers, I am ready for any and all the challenges that life has for me. A final quote from Mr. Will Rodgers as he said, “we can’t all be heroes because somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by.” I have made the decision to be one of the heroes and not the person sitting on the curb clapping. I believe that I will be that hero.
